Inheritance Law

Wills, distribution of estates, renunciation of inheritance and estate disputes.

Inheritance law determines to whom, in what shares and under which conditions a person's estate passes after their death. Wills, the distribution of the estate, renunciation of inheritance and inheritance litigation all fall within this field.

Inheritance matters carry both financial and emotional weight. Professional support is important to administer the estate properly, prevent disputes within the family and protect statutory rights.

Boybey Law & Consultancy advises and represents clients in drafting wills, distributing estates, renouncing inheritance, determining the estate and in inheritance lawsuits. We aim for fair, lawful and lasting solutions in succession matters.

Frequently asked questions

How long do I have to renounce an inheritance?

The time limit is three months and, for statutory heirs, runs from the date they learn of the death. Renunciation is made by an unconditional declaration to the civil court of peace.

What is a reserved share and who has one?

A reserved share is the portion of the estate that cannot be taken away even by a will. Descendants, parents and the surviving spouse have reserved shares, and dispositions that infringe them can be challenged with a reduction action.

Which forms of will are valid?

The Turkish Civil Code recognises three forms: the official will, the holographic (handwritten) will and, in extraordinary circumstances, the oral will. Each has its own formal requirements, and failing to meet them may render the will voidable.
